The Annual Benefit Concert is a major fundraising event that engages the community through music. Corporate sponsors generally underwrite the event and ticket sales represent net proceeds to The Hord Foundation Scholarship Fund.
In 2008, the Grammy Award winning trumpeter, bandleader, arranger and film-score composer Terence Blanchard will perform with his quintet at the Ives Concert Hall on the midtown campus of Western Connecticut State University on Saturday September 13th, 2008. The evening will also include a special performance by Danbury native Latanya Farrell whose vocal talent has been compared to Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin and even Ella Fitzgerald.
Premium tickets holders are invited to an after event reception in Warner Hall where guests will be treated to a special performance by the Western CT State University Modern Dance Troupe. Composer, songstress and Hord Scholar Summer Williams will also debut her tribute composition to The Hord Foundation at the after event reception.
The 2008 Benefit Concert will begin at 7:00PM.
